A NEW PROFESSIONAL FIGURE FOR COMPANIES
Who is the CSRD Auditor?
The CSRD Auditor is the professional figure who evaluates the accuracy and completeness of a company’s sustainability reporting. This is a professional tasked with verifying and certifying compliance with the guidelines established by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the European directive that requires companies to provide detailed information about their ESG impacts.
Their activities include a thorough analysis of the data provided by companies regarding their sustainability practices, assessing its accuracy, transparency, and whether it complies with the regulation.
In addition to verifying the data, the CSRD Auditor also evaluates corporate processes and policies, to ensure that the organisation is genuinely oriented towards sustainability and continuous improvement in the ESG field.
ALIGNING WITH CSRD REGULATION
CSRD Auditor: how it fits into today’s regulatory landscape
What is the CSRD regulation?
The CSRD regulation (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) is a directive introduced by the EU on sustainability reporting, with the aim of shaping a more sustainable Europe. The first companies concerned will have to prepare in 2025 a report covering the 2024 financial year.
Introduced to replace the Non-Financial Reporting Directive, the CSRD regulation expands the number of companies required to comply and establishes stricter criteria for reporting non-financial information.
Corporate sustainability in the EU
Corporate sustainability is an increasingly important topic for the European economy. For this reason, the EU has adopted several measures within the framework of the European Green Deal in order to promote respect for human rights, environmental protection, and sound, sustainable corporate governance.
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is a European Union directive that requires companies to report transparently on their performance in terms of corporate sustainability.
CSRD AUDITOR FOR COMPANIES
Which companies are required by the CSRD regulation to report on corporate sustainability?
Although the companies directly required to comply with the CSRD regulation are those described above, the obligation also indirectly affects many other businesses, which will find themselves needing to develop effective reporting practices aligned with the regulation.
For this reason, it is essential for companies to prepare in advance by building a structure that strongly takes into account their ESG performance, so as to develop a concrete plan for reporting on their own corporate sustainability.
CSRD: year 2024
